FAA Physicals
In addition to providing annual and sports physicals, Gohar S. Khan MD, PA specializes in FAA flight physicals. She is an FAA-authorized Aviation Medical Examiner (AMA) for first class, second class, and third class pilots. All pilots must have a medical certificate from an FAA-authorized Aviation Medical Examiner to fly solo. A first class pilot pertains to an airline transport pilot; second class is a commercial pilot; and third class is for students, recreational and private pilots. She performs flight physicals for all of these.
Approximately just 6,000 physicians in the world are certified by the FAA to perform the pilot flight physicals; and Dr. Khan is one of few FAA-authorized Aviation Medical Examiners in the Volusia and Flagler county areas. She has been providing these pilot physicals for more than 20 years, so she is very familiar with the FAA administrative process.
Dr. Gohar S. Khan is especially pleased to perform flight physicals since she has a passion for flying, loves airplanes, and has always been interested in aerospace medicine. She considers this aspect of her medical practice to be of crucial importance, as the health of pilots potentially impacts the safety and well-being of so many people. This is a thorough and comprehensive examination. The FAA holds pilots to very high medical standards, and Dr. Khan knows exactly what is expected.
Over the years, Dr. Khan has established many long-term relationships with her patients who are pilots and those seeking to become pilots. She values the opportunity to help them maintain or to achieve their medical certification for the first time. She looks forward to offering this service to many new patients in need of the pilot medical certification examination, especially those from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s College of Aviation in nearby Daytona Beach.
